After a week spent sitting at a desk, you might notice that your hips and thighs feel a bit stiff and tight.
Sound familiar? Then you might like to try the seated butterfly stretch.
You can practise this stretch to release muscle tension in the lower body whenever you feel tight in the hips, thighs or groin.
Follow these steps:
Sit on the floor and bring your feet together in front of you.
Straighten your back and place your hands on your feet.
Keeping your back straight, lean forward from your hips.
Gently push your elbows against your thighs and feel your muscles stretch.
Hold this position for 15 to 30 seconds.
Return to the starting position, then repeat.
It doesn’t matter if your knees don’t touch the floor. As you repeat this stretch more often, your hips will loosen up and you’ll be able to get your knees lower.
