You’ve made it to Friday and it’s finally the weekend. Feeling tired? Need to relax?
A do-it-yourself head massage can be a great way to unwind after a long week. Plus, some research suggests massage may help encourage relaxation and sleep in people who have difficulty getting to sleep or staying asleep (insomnia).
Try this simple head massage to help you relax before bed:
Start by sitting comfortably, with a soft towel around your neck and shoulders to catch any drips of massage oil (if you’re using it).
Put some oil onto your fingertips, then apply light-to-medium pressure to your scalp in small circular motions. You can also use a massage tool if you like.
Slowly move around your head, making sure you cover all areas.
Continue to gently massage your scalp for at least 5 minutes.
You don’t have to use oil if you’re not a fan – you can do this massage dry, or even in the shower when you shampoo your hair.
