A quick exercise to pep you up

Feeling sluggish and unfocused? Shake it off with a burst of movement.

Jumping around the living room might be the last thing you feel like doing when you’re tired and unmotivated, but you’ll be surprised at what it can do to revive body and mind. The idea isn’t to do a full workout, just a quick bit of movement that will get your blood pumping.

Try these simple activities to wake yourself up:

  • go for a brisk walk around the block – just 5 to 10 minutes should do the trick
  • put on your favourite dancefloor track – turn up the volume and dance like nobody’s watching (add another track for maximum impact)
  • do some star jumps or jumping jacks – you’ll be breathing harder before you know it
  • dust off a skipping rope (or hop on the spot) – not only will skipping wake you up, it can help with coordination and balance too

Now, doesn’t that feel better?
