Do you like to unwind with a book? If so, you may be interested to know lots of research confirms you’re onto a good thing – reading can reduce stress.

A study found reading lowered blood pressure, heart rate and feelings of stress just as much as yoga or humour, for example.

And there’s good news if you don’t have much time and don't want to miss out on the benefits of reading. Researchers found just 6 minutes of reading had a relaxing effect.

Want to make reading a regular habit? Try setting yourself a ‘reading time’.

Perhaps make it part of your bedtime routine. Put away tech for the day, pick up a real book, and you’ll get the bonus of avoiding blue light from screens, which can affect your sleep.
