Secretly healthy winter smoothies you’ll love

Want to enjoy all the festive flavours while getting a secret health boost? Try either of these 2 delicious smoothies for an indulgent treat that’s also deceptively good for you.

There’s classic eggnog if you prefer things cool and sweet, and chocolate gingerbread if you’re looking for a spicy hit.

No-egg eggnog

Recipe for 1, by Angela Simpson

237ml unsweetened almond milk
1 frozen peeled banana
2 tsp natural almond butter
1 pitted Medjool date
1 scoop vanilla protein powder
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
Pinch of ground cloves
1/4 tsp almond (optional)
1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
5 to 6 ice cubes

Throw everything but the ice in a blender and blend until smooth. Add as much ice as you need to thicken the smoothie, then blend again until completely smooth. Add a cinnamon stick to serve.

Chocolate gingerbread smoothie

Recipe for 1, by Alexis Joseph

237ml unsweetened vanilla almond milk
1 large overripe sliced, frozen banana
180g frozen cauliflower
1 tbsp cashew or almond butter
1 tbsp blackstrap molasses
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger

Just throw all the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth.
