Self-care: Are you doing these 4 things properly?

You may feel like there aren't enough hours in the day to take care of yourself, or practise self-care.

Self-care guidance usually tells you to eat well, sleep better, exercise regularly and do what you need to do to support your mental wellbeing.

But are you actually doing these things? And if so, are you doing them properly and do you really understand why they matter?

To mark Self-care Week in the UK, we’re setting out to help you understand the true value of self-care and how to make it work for you.

Ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What did you have for breakfast this morning and how much water did you drink?
  2. Do you take proper breaks from work during the day, and if so, how many?
  3. Do you find time to fit exercise into your day, or week?
  4. How much sleep are you getting and do you wake up feeling refreshed?

Make a note of your answers and start thinking about what could be improved.

Each day this week we’ll focus on 1 of the above questions and explore why doing it matters, how it can help your physical and mental wellbeing and how to work it into your routine in a way that sticks.
