Sleep easy with this ultimate bedtime smoothie

Whether it’s the stress of Christmas preparations or the excitement of the season keeping you up at night, there’s a solution. Research suggests that certain foods contain nutrients that help you sleep better. This ultimate bedtime smoothie recipe by Jen Hansard of Simple Green Smoothies, combines 6 sleep boosting ingredients in a tasty night-time drink.

Ingredients:

  • 38g uncooked old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 150g baby spinach
  • 120ml brewed chamomile tea (cooled)
  • 120ml tart cherry juice (or more tea)
  • 1 large banana (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 tablespoon almond butter

Method:

  1. Blend the uncooked oats until finely ground.
  2. Add spinach, chamomile tea, cherry juice, bananas and almond butter to the blender. Puree until smooth.
  3. Warm up in a milk pan or microwave. Enjoy.
