Spending more time with friends and family? Here's 4 things to keep in mind

Seeing and connecting with friends and family is important for your mental wellbeing, and as restrictions continue to ease you may be looking forward to socialising again -- or maybe you already are?

But it’s important to remember that coronavirus is still spreading in many parts of the world and even where cases may be coming down, they are still occurring -- so there’s still a risk of getting or spreading it.

As well as regular hand washing and keeping a safe distance, here are some things to keep in mind when meeting others.

How many people are going and where are they meeting?
Official guidance on how many people can meet will vary by country, but it’s generally not a good idea to meet large numbers of people, particularly in spaces where you may not be able to keep a safe distance from each other.

Can you meet outside?
If there’s an option to meet outside, choose it as studies suggest the risk of transmitting the virus is lower outdoors when also keeping a distance. Again, guidance will depend on where you live.

Do you need to wear a mask?
If you’re meeting outside and keeping a distance a mask may not be needed, but check with the people you’re seeing. If you’re meeting inside or need to pass through someone’s home, you may want to take one with you.

Are you feeling unwell?
If you’re feeling even slightly ill, it’s best to stay cautious and postpone your meet up until you’re feeling better.
